What is Paintless Dent Repair?

Paintless Dent Repair, (PDR) for short, is a process used by skilled technicians to work dents back to its original shape without the use of paint or filler.

Dents & Dings removes dents, dings, creases and hail damage from vehicles without affecting the original factory finish. Our skilled technicians use specially-designed tools to gently massage body metal back to its original condition. Dents & Dings repairs are covered by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

The Process mainly uses reflectived light off the dent of repair. The technician uses this as we use a tool similar to a pry bar, of varying size and shapes, to lift the dent up. As this person reads to reaction of the reflectived light they will push up the dent little by little until the dent is out. This is metal working on a very precise level. A Quarter size dent may take up to a hundred pushes before the repair is done.

Another type of repair may required of what is called glue pulling.

The glue pulling process is hot gluing a plastic tab to the surface of the dent then using a device to pull or lift the tab up bringing the metal up with it and usually higher than it is supposed to be. We then go back and slowly knock Down the metal to its repaired condition.
This is a longer process and not as accurate, Its better used on dents smaller than quarter size and It may even pull the paint off during repair.

The normal PDR lifting process is much more preferred by a technician

With a proper repair, no one, even a professional should not be able to indicate where the repair was made.

History of PDR.

In the old days, the body shop technicians would use tools similar to large pry bars to repair the thicker metal vehicles they had back then. It was very similar to what we to now but back then most areas of the vehicles were wide open and accessible and would push the dents out quickly as the metal was more formable because of the type and thickness of the metal. As the metals became harder, thinner, unibody vehciles were being made and plastic based fillers were developed for use of this type of repair, it then became outdated and not usable.

Then someone began using the same principle to repair dents and dings using the same concept, making there own tools and developing techniques. This person was probably working in a vehicle factory plant repairing many vehicles that were being dented during assembly, he repaired dents this way until he became good at it and decided to training people for a fee. It was at this time the field of PDR was born.
